Engadget posted about this cheap USB microphone. Obviously geared towards very low-end musicians (semi-pro for $99, yeah right) but the way I see it, it could work well for podcasts. As I’ve mentioned in the past, the USB microphones let you record without a proper interface or mic preamp, so if your intention is to only record your voice this might be a good solution.

I wonder if it is as good as the CO1U USB microphone from Samson. That one is working great for me.
anybody using SESSION MUSIC PRODUCER can tell me if you can
import a music track from a regular music cd then reduce the
vocals and actually record your voice over it?
I aprecciate any advise since I’m desperate to start recording my voice over some music tracks.

There have been attempts at this in the past. For instance I remember a plug-in for an old version of Winamp called “vocal remover”. These solutions haven’t been very successful however.
I just bought this, and while the software leaves something to be desired (the driver DVD was automatically for a mac, I had to d/l drivers from the webpage) – and the Session software won’t load (Which is fine because I have Sound Forge Audio Studio 9.0 which is amazing) – it really has a great sound, and easy to use.

once i put in my producer-usb cd in i can’t figure how to install it. i double click but it only pulls up the quick start guide. any help?
