I’ve already talked about the CEntrance MicPort Pro (actually mostly copy+paste the press release) that have gotten some good recognition. I never posted about the AxePort Pro because, while a cool invention, I didn’t really feel it’s something for the typical podcaster. Blue’s Icicle which I’ve reported about earlier is a similar idea. Create Digital Music has also recognized the similarities, and linked to several reviews of the CEntrance piece.

I’ve gotten emails from people asking what I think about these and, well, I think they’re really good ideas. I’m all for the smaller inventions, not everyone has space on their desks (I sure as hell don’t), but unfortunately I can’t really speak for the quality of the preamps. I can’t imagine the Blue, that will retail for $59, is of very good quality, but on the other hand not everyone wants to shell out a grand for a microphone preamp. If I ever get my hand on either one of these I’ll report back and let you know what I think of the quality.
